SMS Consent & Messaging Policy
Last Updated: June 2026
1. What messages Subtl sends
Subtl sends transactional and operational SMS messages to invited subcontractors who create an account and opt in. Message categories include:
- Job assignment notifications
- Payment and retainage confirmations
- Lien-waiver and change-order signature requests
- COI, BWC, and W-9 expiration reminders
- Weekly availability check-ins
Subtl does not send marketing or promotional text messages. We do not send SMS to consumers — only to subcontractors invited by a contractor using Subtl.
2. How we collect consent
Consent is collected through an unchecked checkbox shown during account creation. The user must actively click the checkbox to opt in. The checkbox is not required to create an account — users can sign up without consenting to SMS and will simply not receive text messages.
The exact text shown next to the checkbox is:
“I agree to receive operational text messages from Subtl. Msg frequency varies. Msg & data rates may apply. Reply STOP to opt out, HELP for help. Terms · Privacy”
When a user checks the box and submits the form, Subtl records the consent value (true/false) along with a timestamp on that user's account.

The screenshots below show how the consent checkbox appears during signup.

4. Disclosures
- Message frequency varies based on your job activity and notification preferences.
- Message and data rates may apply, depending on your mobile carrier and plan.
- Reply STOP to any Subtl SMS to opt out of all further messages. Reply HELP for help, or email support@gosubtl.co.
- Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
5. Privacy
Mobile phone numbers and SMS consent are not shared with third parties or affiliates for marketing purposes. For full details on how Subtl handles your data, see our Privacy Policy and Terms of Service.
